February
12th – 18th, 2018
This
week was the last week of all the SEA teacher all across the Thailand, Philippine
and Indonesia. In this very last week, the SEA Teacher whom assigned in Phranakhon
Rajabhat University were asked to prepare ourselves for the farewell ceremony
and the post training. During the week, we spent our time mostly together
finishing our presentation as the part of our reflection regarding the school
and our cultural performances from Indonesia. The farewell ceremony and the
post training was held on February 15th, therefore we had only 5
days in preparing all the required things.
On
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we practice the cultural performances. We arrange
the show, the audio and the slide performances. We then choose 2 most known
simple dances from Indonesia to be performed together in the post training and
4 individual dances as the representatives from each region that we were coming
from. We spent the all the day time to practice together in the first floor of
our dorm. Sometimes it was hard to practice knowing that not all of us can
dance can follow the moves correctly. However, with intense practice and
several fun time together, we could master the dance together.
By
that, did not mean that we forgot about our reflection presentation. We were
assigned to 4 schools. Thus, there would 4 different group presentation. Each of
the school group was required to send the Power Point file to our school
advisor before the post training day in order to be arranged and so that we
knew our turn to present. Having finished with all the preparation of farewell
ceremony and post training, we did not realize that it was February 15th
already. The farewell ceremony was started by the opening remark of the Dean of
Teachers Training and Education Faculty, Dr. Direk Pornsima and the activity
reported by the vice Dean of Teachers Training and Education Faculty Dr.
Sasithorn Sopharat. Followed by the Certificate given by the Dean to the School
Supervisors. Before entering the presentation session, English Department
Students of PNRU performed a singing show. Then here came the presentation
session.
I,
personally, felt a little nervous when it came to presentation. Because basically,
it was about our experiences and the lesson we learned as long as we were in
the school. Surely, I could not pointed those things one by one. There were so
many of them. From the goods and bads. Some motivated me and some knocked me
up. The fact was, to say I was thankful was an understatement. I was way beyond
thankful. It was such a huge beneficial opportunity for me.
Back
to the farewell ceremony and post training, our group was the second group who
presented. We stated the presentation with the school profile, school systems
and basic things about the school. Then, entering the part of where we share
our experience. Our problem was basically the same, mostly about the students’
attention and communication. Knowing that they were Thai students, the
communication was really hard between us and them.
After
the presentation, before we took one hour break to have lunch and preparing for
our performances, was the session where all of the SEA Teachers got certificate
and directly given by the President of PNRU. It was an honor to meet the
president again in a great occasion. Having done with the lunch and the
preparation, Thai students of English Department were performing Thai dances
from several region of Thailand. Then, it was our turn to perform. First, we
entered the stage with the music from Betawi (Jakarta). Second, we sang the
national anthem of Indonesia. Third, we danced to Maumere song from Nusa
Tenggara Timur. Fourth, each of the representatives from each region performed
solo dance originally from their province. I was the one who dance too. I performed
Lenso Dance from my city, Ambon, Maluku. Last but not least, our performances was
closed by us singing a song entitled Kemesraan together on the stage. Suddenly the
atmosphere was changing. It became emotional since we knew that that would be
the last ceremony we had in PNRU. With that, our farewell ceremony and Post Training
was successfully over.
The
rest of the days started from February 16th to 18th were
sad and emotional days. Those were days where we had to say goodbyes to our SEA
Teacher friends one by one. One month together was not long indeed, however we
create and collect memories together. We shared laughs and problems. We found
solutions and we hope to be better teacher together. Somehow, by following this
Project I could finally figure out the essence of being a teacher. Foreign
Teacher actually. It was challenging yet interesting.
Finally,
February 18th. The day when I have to come back to reality. Came
back to my city, Ambon. It was very hard to say goodbye. Really. But, I do
believe on the farewell after meeting. Thus, I accept the reality and came back
with stories to be told and lesson to be taught.
